Studies support that sleep-deprived people may find it difficult to memorize or concentrate. It may also decrease coordination.

Lack of sleep may reduce our disease-fighting ability and make us more prone to sickness and frequent infections.

Lack of sleep can alter the balance of the appetite hormones - leptin and ghrelin. It may increase the risk of indigestion issues.

4. May increase obesity risk

Studies have shown that sleep-deprived people experience more cravings for food high in sugar and fat. It can increase the risk of gaining weight due to an unwanted calorie load.

5. May cause insulin resistance

Sleep deprivation may also lower the body’s tolerance for glucose and insulin. These disruptions can lead to diabetes mellitus.

Lack of sleep increases the levels of the stress hormone - cortisol in the body which may result in collagen breakdown causing premature ageing and skin wrinkling.
