Heartburn is commonly experienced by people that suffer from acid reflux or GERD. It occurs as a painful or burning feeling in which stomach acid contents go back to the oesophagus. Here are some foods that may trigger heartburn. Avoiding or limiting their intake may help control the symptoms.

Fried foods like pizza or fries may worsen heartburn as they stimulate the release of substances that may irritate the oesophagus.

Citrus fruits like orange, lemon, & lime and their juices can cause heartburn.

Spicy foods like chillies have been shown to worsen the symptoms and irritate the oesophageal lining.

It is good to avoid alcohol intake if you suffer from heartburn, acid reflux, or IBS.
