Chronic Inflammation and Disease: Are They Related?

Inflammation is a natural response of our body towards any stressors, injury, infection or even exposure to toxins such as cigarette smoke.

Inflammation can be of two types and can be categorised as acute or chronic, depending on the duration.

Acute inflammation occurs for a short-term period in response to an injury or illness.

Chronic inflammation is concerning and may damage healthy tissues or organs. Although it progresses silently, but it may put you at risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.

The most effective way to deter chronic inflammation and its onset is to make some lifestyle changes like maintain a healthy gut, exercise regularly, maintain an optimum weight, sleep well and stress less.

How to Manage?

Avoid refined sugar and refined grains. Increase the intake of anti-inflammatory foods like whole grains, fresh fruits & vegetables like broccoli, spinach, bell peppers, berries, oranges.

Chronic inflammation and diseases are related. So don't look over the signs, act as soon as you feel something is wrong, and get in touch with a health expert or physician. Along with this, always opt for healthy eating habits, maintain your weight, exercise regularly, sleep well and stress less.
