Top Signs of Dehydration

Dehydration is a condition that occurs when the body loses more fluids than it takes in. Recognizing the signs of dehydration is essential because it can lead to serious health complications if left untreated.

One of the most common and easily recognizable signs of dehydration is dark yellow or amber-coloured urine. Properly hydrated urine is typically pale yellow. 

1. Dark Urine

If you notice a significant reduction in the frequency of urination or if your urine output is minimal, it could indicate dehydration. 

2. Decreased Urination

Dehydration often leads to a dry, sticky feeling in the mouth, as well as parched and dry skin. Lips may become chapped as well. 

3. Dry Mouth and Dry Skin

While it may seem obvious, feeling persistently thirsty is a clear sign that your body is craving fluids to rehydrate.

Recognizing the signs of dehydration is essential for maintaining good health. Dehydration can range from mild to severe, and severe dehydration can be life-threatening. To prevent dehydration, it's important to drink an adequate amount of fluids daily, especially in hot weather or when engaged in physical activity. If you suspect you or someone else may be dehydrated, it's crucial to rehydrate promptly.
